But they did have competitions. They did have inter-department cricket competitions, and football, and skittles, but it were all to do with Morlands club. Where Tor Leisure is now was Morlands sports and social club.

Every year we also had a party, on the first Friday in December – a big dance in the town hall in Glastonbury and we\u2019d have a cabaret act and a band – it was a lot of organising!

The netball \u2013 we used to have practice sessions of a night time down at the sports and social club. It was just like a get together sort of thing.

The first year, I went in the October and they were getting the carnival floats all ready. So that was our lunchtimes taken care of.

We had this football match \u2013 ladies against men \u2013 and the men dressed up with skirts and dresses, and the ladies dressed in trousers and shirts. And to this day, I expect if you spoke to one of the gentlemen they\u2019d have said they were robbed because the girls bribed the ref to let them win! But you know it was a bit of fun, it was great fun.

They used to put on a party every Christmas for the children – my dad was Father Christmas one year and I had to stay quiet about it!

We\u2019d have skittles and what have you – competitions. We also had a party, once a year at Christmas. In the town hall. I tell you where we did go a lot, down to Weston Super Mare, to the big dance hall there. It was lovely \u2013 they put on lovely entertainment.

Oh yes, and then we had flower arranging as well – some of us from work did go to flower arranging at the Morlands Club.
