SUMMARY:Friday Night Jazz: The Jazz Defenders
DESCRIPTION:The Red Hot Jazz Club presents\nThe Jazz Defenders\n  \n*N.B. Online ticket sales will stop on Thursday evening. A limited number of entry only tickets will be available on the door from 7.30pm on Friday.* \n  \nLed by one of the UK’s most formidable jazz pianists\, George Cooper\, The Jazz Defenders are a group born from a deep love of Blue Note jazz\, drawing on a wealth of inspiration to craft their own raw and vibrant compositions. Having played several shows at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club as well as many other prestigious venues in the UK\, they continue to electrify audiences with their energy and virtuosity. \nAs The Jazz Defenders carry on distinctly ‘defending’ the legacy of some of the classic hard bop greats such as Horace Silver\, Lee Morgan and Art Blakey\, they begin to evolve their modern soul jazz slant to combine solid grooves and catchy horn lines with a collaborative and comprehensive sound\, fusing soul\, jazz\, hip hop\, soundtrack and groove into a masterful union that leaves audiences mesmerised. The result is an enthrallingly unique sound that is as danceable as it is listenable. \nThe group’s brainchild\, pianist and composer George Cooper\, has lent his ample skill to a range of artists as varied as Hans Zimmer\, Nigel Kennedy\, U2\, Omar\, Slum Village\, MF Doom\, The Brand New Heavies\, Lisa Stansfield\, Wet Wet Wet\, The Haggis Horns\, Abstract Orchestra and Lack of Afro. \n  \n“Absolutely storming!” – Jamie Cullum \n“Wonderfully put together” – Craig Charles \n“Gutsy\, fantastic music” – Dennis Rollins MBE \n“The most exciting British jazz group out there right now” – Music Republic Magazine \n  \nFeaturing: \nGeorge Cooper – Piano/Keyboards \nWill Harris – Bass \nIan Matthews – Drums \nNick Malcolm – Trumpet \nJake McMurchie – Tenor Sax \n  \nFriday 5th April \nDoors: 7.30pm \nStart: 8pm \n  \nTickets \nEntry: £15 \nVegetable Curry with Rice*: £9.50 (advance booking only) \nChicken Curry with Rice*: £9.50 (advance booking only) \n*For special dietary requirements\, please contact The Old Tannery restaurant on theoldtanneryglastonbury@outlook.com or 01458 440558. \nPlease note food options are subject to change. \n  \nFor more information about this event\, please contact theredhotjazzclub@gmail.com \n  \n18’s and over only \nPlease note\, tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled

SUMMARY:'Lost Wax' Jewellery Making Workshop with Rare Bear
DESCRIPTION:‘Lost Wax’ Jewellery Making Workshop\nWith Rare Bear \n  \nWould you like to learn the ancient art of Lost Wax Carving? Come along and experience the oldest process of jewellery making with me. \n  \nFirstly\, it’s important to have an open mind with what you want to create; maybe do a bit of designing and bring in your own ideas. However\, we will start the workshop looking through inspirational content\, then designing your ideas on paper. \nFrom then\, I will show you the different waxes and the techniques and tools you can use to produce the gorgeous piece you desire. The class will then involve moulding\, sculpting or carving your wax\, until you’re happy with your pieces. You can take your time\, and play with the different waxes available until you feel comfortable with what you have made. \nThere will be tea\, coffee and cake available for you to take breaks. \nOnce you feel happy with your work\, I will send your pieces off to my trusted Hatton Gardens casters for your lost wax to be cast into your preferred metal. This can take up to 2 – 3 weeks but is absolutely worth the wait. Once your pieces are cast and sent back to me\, I will do the final stages of finishing and polishing. \nWe can map out the workshop that caters to what you wish from it\, but most importantly; you having a couple pieces of your own hand made jewels. \nThe perfect gift to yourself and others. This playful craft is perfect for anyone with an eye for handmade jewellery and exploring a beautiful historic ritual. \nThe session will run for approximately 2/3 hours\, tea and cake will be provided.
