DESCRIPTION:A Slide Show about Malawi – The Warm Heart of Africa – one of the six poorest countries in the World\n\n7.30-9.30pm – The Morland Room – £5 on the door\n\nAfter two visits in the last 3 years\, returning to the home where my siblings and I were born\, I would love to share some of the photographs and videos that I have brought back with me.\nThese visits have led me to create a Permaculture project in the neighbouring village\, Mponda and the nearby Domasi Mission Secondary School\, with the help of the charity Makwawa Malawi.\n\nMalawi is a beautiful\, under-developed country. Most of the population are subsistence farmers and their livelihoods are easily affected by drought\, pests and disease. There is a growing reliance on international aid\, pesticides and fertilisers. The soil is being depleted and the most wonderful natural resource\, Lake Malawi\, a fresh water inland jewel\, twice the size of Ireland and famous for its tropical fish\, is also under threat from possible oil drilling\n\nPlease\, come and join me as I show you around this amazingly resourceful and curious culture\, visiting permaculture projects\, local families\, villages and schools.\n\nFor more information or to make a donation call Jaine Raine on 01458 834787

SUMMARY:Strode College presents Childrens World Charity Night
DESCRIPTION:A night of Hip Hop\, Grime\, D;nB and Bassline at the Red Brick Building on Friday 8th of June to raise money for great cause. Children’s World help socially disadvantaged children and children with special needs all over the world through educational projects and workshops. \nThe night will feature sets by local DJs and MCs including Loko\, Ratty P\, Recon\, Chas\, Soulz\, Forma\, Danger and Zaranis playing a range of genres including Bassline\, Grime\, D’n’B and Hip Hop. There will also be a Hip Hop Cypher where MCs can freestyle and go head to head. Hip Hop fans will love Zaranis who is one of the hardest working rappers in Somerset having performed at venues and festivals across the South West. He will also be celebrating the launch of his latest EP. \nThis event is likely to be busy so the advice is to come along early and get your tickets. SUMMARY:Julie Lovelock Art Exhibition...Down To Earth
DESCRIPTION:Julie Lovelock will be bring her superb art exhibition to the RBB on the 16th of May 2018. \nJulie had a love of art\, particularly painting\, from a young age and showed promise when at school\, but found\, mainly due to a lack of confidence\, she veered toward a more academic direction. It was in 1993\, when a single mum\, that Julie discovered an Adult Education watercolour class which reignited her passion. She found watercolours to be a quicker and more practical medium when bringing up children and having little time. She would use nap times to paint\, teaching herself by experimentation\, and finding tremendous peace in doing so. \nJulie taught art at a local primary school for five years; she found art a great way for a child to learn to express and so boost their self-esteem. \nIn 2011\, Julie became self-employed giving her more time and freedom to paint\, her children all grown up. She discovered oils\, which quickly became her preferred medium. She says she finds them very healing by their being more natural. So\, she is primarily self-taught by experimentation. \nJulie usually enjoys painting nature\, either landscape or animals; she finds her love of the land and light\, and its creatures\, comes out in her work. Lately\, she has been branching out into different areas\, so trying her hand at celebrity portraits and more urban landscapes. She is also a Yoga teacher\, spiritual healer\, counsellor and clairvoyant.
