DESCRIPTION:House of El returns for its second Throwback Session. On this very special night we are going to be  revisiting one of the most important era’s of UK Dance music. In a one time original soundclash we will be bringing you the sounds of Old Skool Garage vs Jungle. \nThe event will see two special guest DJ’s\, firstly the return of Glastonbury hometown favourite “DJ Fivestack”. Fivestack started mixing in 1993 after falling in love with the underground music scene. He spent years playing on pirate radio\, and eventually ended up running his own station “Buzz Fm”. He spent time playing clubs and raves all over the country\, winning DJ comps and held club residencys all over Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire before moving to Glastonbury in 2006. He tells us that one of his favourite career highlights has to be playing Glastonbury Festival in 2011 to a massive home crowd at the ‘Babylon Uprising’ stage. He is currently helping run the highly successful internet stationGlobaldnb.com with a regular show now every Friday 6-8pm. \nIn addition to Fivestack\, coming all the way from London will be UK Garage veteran “DJ Son”. Spending the mid to late 90’s playing house parties and raves\, DJ Son found himself on Pure FM which he did for 3 years. He has played at the Love Parade in Austria alongside Ed 209\, and has recently been a resident at ‘House your Sundays’ in North West London. DESCRIPTION:Go Wild at the Red Brick Building over the summer! \nTo coincide with the school summer holidays\, we’re delighted to announce that we will be hosting the British Wildlife Photography Awards\,  in partnership with Somerset Wildlife Trust\, for the second year running. \nAn exhibition of more than 70 winning images from 2017 will be displayed from 17th July until 25th August as a part of a tour starting in London. From urban foxes to staring birds\, badgers to snails\, every picture will inspire and delight you. \nThe Awards have a number of aims\, including: \n\nRecognise the talents of photographers practicing in the UK\, while at the same time highlight the great wealth and diversity of Britain’s natural history.\nCelebrate British wildlife\, in all its beauty and diversity\, through a collection of inspirational photographs.\nShowcase the very best of our nature photography to a wide audience and engage all ages with evocative and powerful imagery.\nEncourage discovery\, exploration\, conservation and enjoyment of our natural heritage.\nRaise awareness about British biodiversity\, species and habitats.\n\nWinners include Somerset’s own photographer\, Victoria Hillman. The exhibition showcases the wealth and diversity of Britain’s natural history\, with the hope of inspiring people to protect and appreciate the wildlife in their local area. \nThe exhibition is free to enter. Voluntary donations are welcome and will be shared equally between Red Brick Building going to support the local community work and bring more outstanding exhibitions to the area\, and Somerset Wildlife Trust to support their work in conserving our county’s wonderful wildlife and habitats – some of which will be on display in the exhibition. \nAlongside the exhibition there will be some art workshops (keep checking here for details) as well as a Go Wild With Your Camera Walk. \nLast year over 1\,000 people visited the exhibition – we’d love to see even more people appreciating this amazing exhibition and visiting our lovely community-owned building. DESCRIPTION:A Slide Show about Malawi – The Warm Heart of Africa – one of the six poorest countries in the World\n\n7.30-9.30pm – The Morland Room – £5 on the door\n\nAfter two visits in the last 3 years\, returning to the home where my siblings and I were born\, I would love to share some of the photographs and videos that I have brought back with me.\nThese visits have led me to create a Permaculture project in the neighbouring village\, Mponda and the nearby Domasi Mission Secondary School\, with the help of the charity Makwawa Malawi.\n\nMalawi is a beautiful\, under-developed country. Most of the population are subsistence farmers and their livelihoods are easily affected by drought\, pests and disease. There is a growing reliance on international aid\, pesticides and fertilisers. The soil is being depleted and the most wonderful natural resource\, Lake Malawi\, a fresh water inland jewel\, twice the size of Ireland and famous for its tropical fish\, is also under threat from possible oil drilling\n\nPlease\, come and join me as I show you around this amazingly resourceful and curious culture\, visiting permaculture projects\, local families\, villages and schools.\n\nFor more information or to make a donation call Jaine Raine on 01458 834787
