SUMMARY:Alternatives Retreat: The Light Within a Human Heart with Lars Muhl
DESCRIPTION:Alternatives presents: \nThe Light Within a Human Heart\nRetreat with Lars Muhl\n  \nThe mystery tradition of The Essenes \n  \nThursday 22nd August – Sunday 25th August 2019 \n  \nAlternatives are hosting a 4-day retreat in Glastonbury\, with workshops and talks held at the Red Brick Building. \nLeading the retreat will be Danish author\, mystic and lecturer\, Lars Muhl. \n  \nMessage from Lars Muhl: \nThis retreat is based on everything that I have worked with throughout the years: breathing therapy\, prayer\, rituals\, meditation\, intuition\, healing\, chanting\, vocal sound healing\, energy work and Chariot of Fire practice\, with the psychology of the Aramaic language as a resonance bond. \n  \nThe Light Within a Human Heart retreat has the mystery tradition of The Essenes and the Therapists of Alexandria as a role model. These mystery traditions educated the first deacons\, that we know of\, long before the term deacon was known. The Essenes called themselves Children of the Light\, while the Therapists were called the The Ones Dressed in White. \n  \n’The Kingdom of Heaven (Malkoota d’Shmeya) is within you\, and everywhere around you’\, says Yeshua in The Gospel of Luke and in The Gospel of Thomas. This is the completely fundamental and most important point of departure of the workshop that we are able to connect ourselves to The Kingdom of Heaven within. That we through this Kingdom of Heaven understands who we truly are\, where we come from\, what we are doing here and where we are going. This knowledge has to be completely integrated in each of us. This is the prerequisite for everything that we are going to work with on the workshop. Therefore\, this will be the first and continuous practice throughout the whole course. \n  \n‘If you follow my example\, you will be able to perform even greater wonders than I’\, says Yeshua in  The Gospel of Matthew. This statement is the starting point of the workshop.  We wish to make a reality of Yeshua’s words and actions through our own experiences and deeds. That is\, in our relations with other people\, everywhere we go\, and in our healing and energy work. \n  \nDuring the retreat\, Lars will take participants to the Tor and Chalice Well for a group ritual and chanting\, using the water and the land for healing. There will also be a cleansing journey at the Red Springs.  There will be time for personal reflection\, and to explore the wonderful landscape of Glastonbury.  \n  \n  \nPrice \nTuition only: £580 (deposit: £200) \nAccommodation and Tuition Package: from £995 (deposit: from £195) \nAll accomodation\, breakfast\, lunch\, transfers and teachings are included in the accomodation packages. Tuition only package available. Payment plans available. \n  \nFor more info and to book \nVisit www.alternatives.org.uk

SUMMARY:Plant Medicine Series - From Shock To Awe
DESCRIPTION:Plant Medicine Cinema Series\nCan entheogens heal where pharmaceuticals have failed?\n  \nThursday 13th June \nFrom Shock To Awe\n  \nRunning time: 87 mins \nSynopsis: How do we heal our deepest wounds? An intimate and raw look at the transformational journey of two combat veterans suffering from severe trauma as they abandon pharmaceuticals to seek relief through the mind-expanding world of psychedelics. Recent scientific research coupled with a psychedelic renaissance reveals that these substances can be used to heal PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) for individuals and their families. Beyond the personal stories\, From Shock to Awe also raises fundamental questions about war\, the pharmaceutical industry\, and the US legal system. The documentary centers on veterans\, Matt Kahl and Mike Cooley\, and their challenging post-war lives\, lives shattered by the trauma of war. They struggle with anxiety\, fear\, depression\, anger\, and an overall inability to find an equilibrium in society and with their families. After confronting death multiple times\, our heroes set out on a journey of the human spirit. \nTickets: £7.50 \nDoors: open at 7.30pm\, screening starts at 8.00pm \n  \nAn augmented cinema experience \nA series of six film screenings exploring the use of plant medicines and entheogens in medicine as alternatives to pharmaceutical treatments. \nAs the cost of healthcare and pharmaceutical medicine increases\, many are looking to alternatives for healing. In the face of a mental health crisis\, how can entheogens assist with healing the scars that can’t be seen? \nOur aim is to educate\, to show the benefits and dangers inherent in using entheogens for medical treatment.

SUMMARY:Plant Medicine Series - Magic Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Plant Medicine Cinema Series\nCan entheogens heal where pharmaceuticals have failed?\n  \nThursday 6th June \nMagic Medicine\n  \nRunning time: 79 mins \nSynopsis: Can magic mushrooms cure depression? Over 4 years\, filmmaker Monty Wates was given exclusive access to the first ever medical trial to give psilocybin (the psychoactive ingredient in magic mushrooms) to a group of volunteers suffering from clinical depression. His remarkable film follows three of the volunteers and their families\, and the ambitious staff running the trial\, who are hoping this controversial treatment will have the power to transform millions of lives. With deeply moving footage of the “trips” the patients go on\, this intimate film is an absorbing portrait of the human cost of depression\, and the inspirational people contributing to groundbreaking psychedelic research.
