SUMMARY:Ecstatic Dance Journey & Cacao: The Four Elements + Live Music
DESCRIPTION:Ecstatic Dance Journey & Cacao: The Four Elements + Live Music\nWith Just BE Sound & Movement Therapy  \n  \nAlison from Just BE Sound and Movement Therapy/Ecstatic Dance Berkshire and David\, Nomadic Therapist are back with another Ecstatic Dance Journey with Cacao & a Sound Bath – The Four Elements\, with live didgeridoo\, hand pan\, shruti and vocals! \n  \nEnter the space in sacred silence from 7.20pm and join us in meditation. \nAt 7.30pm\, sitting in circle\, you’ll be guided through a short centring practice\, with an invitation to scan the body\, emotions and mind. This practice is an opportunity to bring more presence to your experience and to connect more deeply with your self and your heart. \nAs we move into our cacao ceremony\, we pass our Guatemalan cacao around the circle with love\, before practicing gratitude and setting intentions together. \nWe’ll begin our movement journey together with a little guidance to warm up. The invitation is to disconnect the mind and connect with the body freely\, without self-judgement or fearing judgement from others. Movement is conscious\, intuitive and spontaneous as you allow the vibrations of the sound to resonate in whichever way feels right for you. Each dance journey is different\, with the music an eclectic mix of different genres. You’ll be invited to be curious with your exploration of your body and movements\, to bring moment by moment awareness to what’s moving through you. \nThe evening will close with a sound bath with didgeridoo\, handpan\, shruti and vocals\, a short closing circle with fruit\, and some optional time to socialise. \nThis is an over 16’s\, safe\, respectfully alcohol and drug free environment. We move/dance barefoot or with grip socks.  \n  \nSaturday 5th April \n7.30pm – 10pm \n  \nTickets \n£24 (plus booking fee) \nAdvance tickets and more info available here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/glastonbury-ecstatic-dance-journey-cacao-the-four-elements-live-music-tickets-1234848628489 \n

SUMMARY:The Undercover Hippy
DESCRIPTION:Midnight Mango\, Red Brick Building and The Old Tannery present \n  \nThe Undercover Hippy\nPlus Support\n  \nN.B. Online ticket sales will stop at midday on Saturday. Tickets will also be available to purchase on the door from 8pm on Saturday\, £20 each. \n  \n  \nIntelligent\, provocative lyrics with dangerously catchy hooks and a feel good groove! \n  \nTaking a Stand for a World Gone Sideways \nAs the planet hurtles toward what feels like a never-ending season finale—chaos\, climate crisis\, and a world leader or two you wouldn’t trust with a toaster—The Undercover Hippy are stepping up to do what they do best: make sense of the madness\, one song at a time. \nBased in Bristol and fronted by singer-songwriter Billy Rowan\, The Undercover Hippy blend conscious lyrics with infectious grooves that hit harder than a tabloid headline. Their music fuses elements of reggae\, hip-hop\, and ska\, serving up sharp social commentary wrapped in warm\, danceable beats. Think The Specials meets Eminem\, with a healthy dose of satire. \nBut don’t let their easygoing sound fool you. The lyrics are sharp\, addressing everything from corrupt politicians and corporate greed to the importance of compassion and unity in a fractured world. It’s this balance of humour and hard-hitting honesty that has won the band a dedicated fanbase across the UK and beyond. \n  \nThe Live Experience \nIf you’ve never seen The Undercover Hippy live\, imagine a party where you dance till your legs ache\, laugh till your cheeks hurt\, and leave feeling like you’ve just been hugged by 300 strangers who all believe in a better tomorrow. Packed with energy\, crowd interaction\, and an ever-so-slightly anarchic spirit\, their shows are a communal experience—a space to let loose\, think critically\, and maybe even shout a little louder than usual. \n  \nThe Mission \nWith their latest tour\, the band are tackling the chaos head-on. This isn’t just about the music; it’s about making a stand. As the shadow of fascism looms large and the spectre of nuclear armageddon creeps ever closer\, The Undercover Hippy are doing what they can to flip the upside-down world back the right way up. Armed with wit\, rhythm\, and a sprinkling of hope\, they’re leading the charge for change. It might just be music\, but sometimes music is all you need to spark a revolution. \nJoin them on their mission to laugh in the face of disaster\, dance through the doom\, and remember that the fight’s not over until the last bassline drops. \nBecause if the world’s going to end\, we might as well have a good time trying to save it. \n  \n  \nSaturday 12th April \n8pm – late \n  \nTickets \n£18.50 advance (plus booking fee) \n£20 on the door \n  \n18’s and over only \nPlease note\, tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled

DESCRIPTION:The Red Hot Jazz Club presents\n80th Anniversary VE Day Celebrations\n  \nN.B. Online ticket sales have now stopped. Tickets will be available to purchase on the door from 7.30pm tonight. \n  \nClassic 1930’s & 40’s tunes from The Shepton Mallet Big Band \n  \nAfter their amazing performance at last year’s Glastonbury Extravaganza\, The Red Hot Jazz Club are thrilled to host The Shepton Mallet Big Band for our 80th Anniversary VE Day Celebrations. \nCome dressed to celebrate and join in with the big band\, singing and dancing to all those popular tunes that bring back all those memories of those momentous events in the 1930s and 40’s. \nIf you’d like to book a table and eat\, we are offering a special VE Day meal of  Beef or Vegetable Hotpot with Dumpling and Mash which can be ordered below with your tickets. \n  \nThe Shepton Mallet Big Band was established more than 30 years ago\, when what started as a local saxophone jazz quartet specialising in music from the 30s\, 40s and 50s\, grew into a Big Band.  \nThe band today is a vibrant group of over 20 enthusiastic musicians in a standard line-up of saxophones\, trumpets and trombones\, with guitar\, bass\, drums\, keyboard and vocalists.  Our repertoire includes music from the golden big band era of the 1940s\, including Glenn Miller\, Count Basie\, Louis\, Ella and Sinatra and also contemporary funk and soul style music such as pieces by Herbie Hancock\, Stevie Wonder\, and Imelda May. The members are keen to bring live instrumental and vocal music of all kinds to everyone. Performances at recent events include: the Royal Bath & West Show for the last few years\, Shepton Mallet Collett Park Day\, Haynes Motor Museum and the Glastonbury Extravaganza supporting headliners Keane. \nThis year sees the 80th anniversary of VE day in May and the band has put together a set of authentic 1930s and 1940s music to commemorate this important milestone. \n  \n  \nFriday 9th May \nDoors: 7.30pm \nStart: 8pm \n  \nTickets \nEntry: £15 \nBeef Hotpot with Dumpling and Mash*: £9.50 (Advance booking only. SUMMARY:Three Acres And A Cow
DESCRIPTION:Three Acres And A Cow\n  \nA history of land rights and protest in folk song and story \n  \nThree Acres And A Cow connects the Norman Conquest and Peasants’ Revolt with current issues like the housing crisis\, reparations\, climate breakdown and food sovereignty via the Enclosures\, English Civil War and Industrial Revolution\, drawing a compelling narrative through the radical people’s history of England in folk song\, stories and poems. \nPart TED talk\, part history lecture\, part folk club sing-a-long\, part storytelling session… Come and share in these tales as they have been shared for generations. \nFor more information\, visit: www.threeacresandacow.co.uk \n  \n“I think about this show all the time. It has totally changed the way I think about colonialism\, direct action and English nationalism. Thinking about it today\, four years after seeing the show\, it’s clear it was a life changing event for me.” – Monique \n“The history lesson I’ve always wanted. Thank you for a very entertaining/life changing evening. I’ll be looking at the land and listening to folk songs in a very different way” – Emily \n“Everyone should see this show” – George Monbiot \n  \nThursday 10th July \nDoors: 6.30pm \n7pm – 9.45pm (with one interval) \n  \nTickets \n£15 – £25 \nAdvance tickets available to purchase here: www.tickettailor.com/events/modifythevan/1739534 \n  \nMoney raised from ticket sales will help support the work of our vibrant community centre; a space that welcomes all and supports community\, arts\, enterprise\, well-being and culture. \n  \n  \nAge Limit: \nThe show is not designed for kids although there have been both primary and secondary aged children who enjoyed the show a lot… *but* please do not bring them along against their will! \nThe show is light hearted in many places and is broken up with sing-a-longs\, but we also discuss the Irish potato famine and other British colonial genocides plus the trading of enslaved Africans – so some strong words are used. \n

SUMMARY:Somatic Synergy: Nervous System Regulation & Pelvic Floor Barre for Resilience & Rejuvenation
DESCRIPTION:Somatic Synergy\nWith Somatic Wellness Coach Sophia Blanton \n  \nTwo Workshops: ‘Nervous System Regulation’ and ‘Pelvic Floor Barre’ \n  \nA two-part embodied breakthrough weaving Nervous System Regulation & Pelvic Floor Barre. We’ll dive into science-backed techniques to regulate the nervous system\, followed by a unique somatic practice to awaken & strengthen the pelvic region. \n  \nFIRST SESSION: NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION \nLearn to: \nIdentify key nervous system stress states in the body \nChoose from a series of nervous-system mini-routines to reset & recover from stress states like fight\, flight\, freeze \nCo-regulate with simple rhythmic group activities \n  \nSECOND SESSION: PELVIC FLOOR BARRE \nLearn to: \nGently open & release joints of the lower back & pelvis \nRhythmically tone muscle groups like glutes\, core & Kegels \nRelease stored emotional energy from the pelvis and enteric nervous system (the Gut-Brain) \n  \nSomatic Synergy is a dynamic 3-hour workshop that invites you into deep connection with your body’s innate wisdom. Through a unique combination of somatic nervous system regulation and pelvic floor barre\, you’ll learn about how the body holds stress\, and how it can release\, reset\, and revive through embodied practice. Please bring a yoga mat and/or towel for the workshop.  We will engage activities standing\, sitting\, and lying on the floor – all to a carefully curated\, inspiring soundscape. \nWe’ll begin with trauma-informed techniques to come into grounded\, centered presence and metabolize the energies of fight\, flight\, and freeze. You’ll learn practical tools to identify your nervous system states\, cultivate embodied safety\, and co-regulate with others — all through movement\, breath\, sensation\, and rhythm.  You’ll take home three mini-routines that you can use any time for quick and simple shifting.  All attendees are invited to the private Facebook group “Neuroshift Regulation Resources”\, where you can follow short video routines with Sophia to help you shift any time. \nIn the second half\, we’ll move into a somatic floor-barre practice focused on the pelvic bowl\, belly and core\, where we tend to store emotional energies like fear and shame.  We’ll explore innovative ways to gently and incrementally open the joints of the pelvic bowl in preparation for deeper work. By merging breath with movement\, you’ll awaken tone\, vitality\, and emotional release in the deep tissues of the pelvic bowl\, with special focus on the Kegel muscle group and glutes. Expect to leave feeling revitalized and more in tune with your body’s felt sense of resilience and flow. \nSophia Blanton is an international teacher of dance\, performance and embodied modalities bridging intentional movement with emotional and mental health. She has been studying the nervous system since 2011\, when she embarked on a research project applying movement to recovery from trauma and stress states.  With certifications in trauma-informed healing practice and somatic nervous system regulation\, she has helps people tap into their bodies’ innate wisdom for integrated well-being\, body\, mind and soul. \n  \nSaturday 26th July \n2pm – 5pm \n  \nPrice \n£25 for one workshop \n£45 for both workshops \n  \nFor more info and to book \nEmail shiftwithsophia@gmail.com \n
