DESCRIPTION:The Snug\n  \nPromoting positive mental health and wellbeing through art\, creativity\, music and community \n  \nRun by the Glastonbury Mental Health Network\, the Snug is a weekly drop-in event on Thursdays that is open to everyone. At the Snug you will find various crafting activities to enjoy\, lots of books to read\, gentle background music\, and free hot refreshments. There are also trained listeners who are available to chat to\, as well as information about local support services available. \nOn the last Thursday of the month\, there are also artists at the Snug who run more specialist activities (such as pottery and mandala making)\, and sometimes live musicians too. \nAll are welcome to attend\, including closely supervised children. Please be respectful to all present. \n  \n  \nWeekly on Thursdays \n12pm – 5pm \nEntry is free. Donations gratefully received. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Pad Presents \nThe Bluetones (Acoustic)\n+ Enjoyable Listens\n  \nThe Bluetones frontman Mark Morriss and his partner in crime Adam Devlin are taking their ‘Bluetones Acoustic’ show back out on the road in spring ’24 and will be making a ‘Slight Return’ to the Red Brick Building. \nThe band\, formed in 1993\, had an impressive run of hit singles throughout the late 90’s/early 00’s\, including ’Bluetonic’\, ‘Slight Return’\, ‘Marblehead Johnson’\, ‘Solomon Bites The Worm’\, ‘If’ and ‘Keep the Fires Burning’. They scored thirteen Top 40 singles and three Top 10 albums in the UK charts before a hiatus in 2010. Returning in 2015 with a run of sell out shows\, the band continue to tour to packed houses up and down the UK. The group consists of Wojtek Warmijak (drums)\, Tomir Śpiołek (piano\, synths) and Ziemowit Klimek (double bass\, synths). This tour will also see them performing with saxophonist Michał Jan Ciesielski. \nImmortal Onion have already built a strong position as one of the most interesting\, new jazz projects from Poland. Additional entry-only tickets will be available to purchase on the door from 7.30pm on Friday.* \n  \nAfro-Cuban and Latin Jazz Night \n  \nWelcome back to The Red Hot Jazz Club! \nOur first show in 2024 is the brilliant Jim Blomfield-Michel Padrón Quintet\, bringing us a fantastic night of Afro-Cuban rhythms and Latin Jazz classics that won’t fail to make you move and dance. \nJoin us in our low-lit Jazz Club\, book a table and maybe order the Jazz-Dinner from the Old Tannery (always delicious!) and experience a night of excellent live Latin-Jazz from an amazing band of top musicians. \n  \nIt was only a matter of time before Cuban trumpeter and trombonist Michel Padrón crossed paths with ‘gringo’ Jim Blomfield… This band is the result of two brilliant exponents of the Afro-Cuban and Salsa genres bringing together some of their favourite musicians to play a dynamic set of sparkling Latin Jazz originals and covers. \nMichel and Jim have regularly appeared together in many influential Bristol Latin Jazz and Salsa bands including Baila La Cumbia\, Dockside Latin Orchestra\, Saoco Collective and Bristol Salsa Orchestra (Michel being musical director and arranger for the latter two). \n  \nHavanan born Michel has toured extensively in Europe and the USA. He is the leader and musical director of Asere\, a Latin band with a career spanning over two decades and one that has included collaborations with such musical legends as Billy Cobham\, Cesaria Evora and Toto la Momposina. \nA very versatile piano/keyboard player\, Jim is one of the mainstays of both Bristol’s vibrant jazz and latin scene. He has backed countless big name guest soloists and released several albums of his own music which blend jazz with latin\, rock\, electronica and contemporary music influences.
