SUMMARY:Friday Night Blues: ZZ Birmingham Band
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night Blues\nZZ Birmingham Band\n  \nWhat ZZ Birmingham doesn’t know about the blues wouldn’t fill a postcard home from Birmingham\, Alabama. Check out his long running Blues Cruise radio show on Glastonbury FM. You will be very well informed\, yes\, but also delightfully entertained. A superb showman and story-teller\, these are the hallmarks of his stage show\, too. \nThe core band is five-piece: sax\, fiddle\, drums and bass\, with ZZ fronting on guitar/vocals and occasional harmonica. On live gigs he has the habit of adding trumpet and cello to create horn and string sections. \nRefreshingly absent are lead guitar solos\, overdone to the point of cliche in too many line ups. When the band is in full cry\, ZZ looks to his horns and strings for the fills and thrills. He then subverts expectation by resting them to deliver a stripped down master-class on Hoochie Coochie Man. \nThis is a deserving fixture of the band’s core set\, as is the rousing and anthemic Boots\, ZZ’s own composition – although he credits Bob Dylan among others as having a hand in its creation. Expect other originals as well as first rate covers. \nLadies and gentlemen\, put on your Hi Heel Sneakers and dance the blues with the ZZ Birmingham Band… blues and beyond! \n  \nFriday 29th April \n8pm – late \n  \nTickets \n£7.50 advance (£8 on the door) \nRoasted Cauliflower with BBQ Borlotti Bean Ragout*: £8.50 (advance booking only) \nSlow Roasted Goat Shoulder with BBQ Borlotti Bean Ragout*: £8.50 (advance booking only) \n*For special dietary requirements\, please contact The Old Tannery restaurant on theoldtanneryglastonbury@outlook.com or 01458 440558. \nPlease note food options are subject to change. \n  \nFor more information about this event\, please contact milton.bluesman@hotmail.com \n  \n18’s and over only \nPlease note\, tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled

SUMMARY:Friday Night Blues: Brue River Band
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night Blues\nBrue River Band\n  \nA celebratory evening of rockin’ good Chicago blues \nPlus a delicious dinner from The Old Tannery! \n  \nThe Brue River crew came together as a response to the first lockdown. They were on a mission to blow their blues away – and everybody else’s! Their sound is far more joyful than woeful. They deliver driving\, dancey grooves in celebratory spirit and style. \nTheir set draws heavily on Chicago blues influences\, especially Howlin’ Wolf and  Muddy Waters. But they’ve made the material their own\, enhanced by sax and harmonica lines weaving through rock steady arrangements. There are some original compositions in there\, too. \nBased at Octopus Studios in Bruton\, The Brue River Band take their name from the river that runs alongside them. Sometimes they invite other acts they’ve met while rehearsing and recording there to support them on gigs. You are certainly in for a Friday night treat and you may get a bonus band too! \nStudio mix sample track available at: https://youtu.be/5nFw00_TFzg\n  \nFriday 11th March \n8pm – late \n  \nTickets \n£8 advance (£10 on the door) \nRoasted Vegetable Cassoulet*: £8.50 (advance booking only) \nSlow Roast Pork Cassoulet*: £8.50 (advance booking only) \n*For special dietary requirements\, please contact The Old Tannery restaurant on theoldtanneryglastonbury@outlook.com or 01458 440558. \nPlease note food options are subject to change. \n  \nFor more information about this event\, please contact milton.bluesman@hotmail.com \n  \n18’s and over only \nPlease note\, tickets are non-refundable (unless the event is cancelled)

SUMMARY:Friday Night Jazz: The Jazz Defenders
DESCRIPTION:The Red Hot Jazz Club presents\nThe Jazz Defenders\n  \nA night of original modern Soul Jazz\, channelling the spirit of the golden Blue Note era of Jazz. \nPlus a delicious dinner from The Old Tannery! \n  \nLed by one of the UK’s most formidable Jazz pianists\, George Cooper\, The Jazz Defenders are a group born from a deep love of Blue Note Jazz\, drawing on a wealth of inspiration to craft their own raw and vibrant compositions. \nThe hard bop recordings of Horace Silver\, Hank Mobley\, Lee Morgan and Art Blakey were highly regarded for a reason – catchy horn lines and incredible musicianship combined with Rudy Van Gelder’s engineering skills mean they will forever be regarded as classics of the genre. The Jazz Defenders are a group that ‘defend’ the legacy of those recordings whilst creating its own original identity and distinction. The music they produce together is a modern soul jazz slant on this classic Hard Bop\, effortlessly channeling the spirit of the golden Blue Note era of Jazz. \nThe group’s brainchild\, pianist and composer George Cooper\, has at a young age already amassed a comprehensive repertoire of musical credits including Hans Zimmer\, Nigel Kennedy\, U2\, Omar\, Slum Village\, MF Doom\, Brand New Heavies\, The Haggis Horns\, Abstract Orchestra and Lack of Afro. \n  \nFeaturing: \nGeorge Cooper – Piano \nWill Harris – Bass \nIan Matthews – Drums \nNick Malcolm – Trumpet \nNicholas Dover – Tenor Sax \nwww.thejazzdefenders.bandcamp.com \nwww.facebook.com/thejazzdefenders \n  \nFriday 3rd December \nDoors: 7.30pm \nStart: 8pm \n  \nTickets \nEntry: £10 advance (£12 on the door) \nVegetable Lasagne*: £8.50 (advance booking only) \nBeef Lasagne*: £8.50 (advance booking only) \n*For special dietary requirements\, please contact The Old Tannery restaurant on theoldtanneryglastonbury@outlook.com or 01458 440558. \nPlease note food options are subject to change. \n  \nFor more information about this event\, please contact theredhotjazzclub@gmail.com \n  \n18’s and over only \nPlease note\, tickets are non-refundable (unless the event is cancelled)

SUMMARY:The Undercover Hippy
DESCRIPTION:The Undercover Hippy\nPlus Support from Monkey Bizzle\n  \n‘I Don’t Get Out A Lot’ – UK Tour 2021 \n  \nIntelligent\, provocative lyrics with dangerously catchy hooks and a feel good groove! \n  \nThe Undercover Hippy and his full band will be visiting Glastonbury as part of their epic 27 date ‘I Don’t Get Out A Lot’ Tour this Autumn. With support from Monkey Bizzle. \n  \nDrum and Bass MC turned singer-songwriter Billy Rowan\, aka The Undercover Hippy\, is definitely not your average singer-songwriter. Described by BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson as being “like the love-child of Steel Pulse\, Kate Tempest and The Sleaford Mods”\, his music brings together powerful messages\, infectious reggae rhythms\, and the lyrical delivery of a skilled MC. Think Natty meets Eminem…on a protest march…at the Edinburgh Fringe.\n \n  \nRenowned for the electric atmosphere of their live shows\, Billy and his band have performed at some of the UK’s best festivals\, including Glastonbury\, Boomtown Fair\, Shambala\, Green Man\, The Secret Garden Party\, Ireland’s Electric Picnic\, and many more.\n \n  \nOne of Billy’s biggest strengths is the way he manages to pack his songs full of political and social commentary\, whilst at the same time remaining playful and uplifting.\n \n  \nSaturday 20th November \n8pm – late \n  \nTickets \n£15 advance (plus booking fee) \n  \n18’s and over only \nPlease note\, tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled
