SUMMARY:Politics and Protest\, Posters from the Women's Liberation Movement exhibition 1st-11th September
DESCRIPTION:Hatpins to Hashtags brings an exhibition of dynamic posters from the Women’s Liberation Movement (1978-2000) to share with audiences around the South West on from 1st-11th September 2018. \nDrawn from the rich collection of over 1000 posters held by The Feminist Archive South they are testmony to the activist energy of the movement and the determination of women to speak out and organise on their own terms. \nCalling women together to campaign\, learn\, protest and celebrate the posters speak to us now of the burning issues of the time – many of which continue to reverberate today. The posters are inspiring and will also provoke debate: What was achieved? What is still to be done? \nJoins us to discuss these questions during events and debates that will accompany the exhibition exploring\, for example: what is Feminism? Who is a Feminist? Then\, now and into the future. \nThere will be accompanying workshops\, cross generational conversations and panel discussions – look out for the programme for your area that will be posted nearer the time. Local speakers and organisations are invited to bring their concerns and knowledges to the Hatpins to Hashtags table: email feminist.archive40@gmail.com to get involved.

SUMMARY:Julie Lovelock Art Exhibition...Down To Earth
DESCRIPTION:Julie Lovelock will be bring her superb art exhibition to the RBB on the 16th of May 2018. \nJulie had a love of art\, particularly painting\, from a young age and showed promise when at school\, but found\, mainly due to a lack of confidence\, she veered toward a more academic direction. It was in 1993\, when a single mum\, that Julie discovered an Adult Education watercolour class which reignited her passion. She found watercolours to be a quicker and more practical medium when bringing up children and having little time. She would use nap times to paint\, teaching herself by experimentation\, and finding tremendous peace in doing so. \nJulie taught art at a local primary school for five years; she found art a great way for a child to learn to express and so boost their self-esteem. \nIn 2011\, Julie became self-employed giving her more time and freedom to paint\, her children all grown up. She discovered oils\, which quickly became her preferred medium. She says she finds them very healing by their being more natural. So\, she is primarily self-taught by experimentation. \nJulie usually enjoys painting nature\, either landscape or animals; she finds her love of the land and light\, and its creatures\, comes out in her work. Lately\, she has been branching out into different areas\, so trying her hand at celebrity portraits and more urban landscapes. She is also a Yoga teacher\, spiritual healer\, counsellor and clairvoyant.

All tools and materials are included in the price. \nNearly 1\,300 years ago\, Vikings used long pieces of silver and gold wire to weave ropes.  These woven wire ropes were then stretched and made into jewellery. Growing up in an area of outstanding natural beauty and also living very close to the south coast\, gave Holly an innate appreciation for organic forms and natural aesthetics\, which is still apparent in her jewellery today. \nHolly began creating jewellery in her early teens and by fifteen she was already selling her jewellery to an enthusiastic base of returning customers. \nAfter leaving school Holly went on to study Art to Degree level. She has also trained in and uses a variety of techniques including: beading\, beating\, wrapping\, Peruvian wire work\, weaving and Viking weave. Holly has also had training as a silversmith. \nMore recently Holly has moved into the production of intricate wire woven flower crowns as well as wire work bonsai tree sculptures. \n  \n
