SUMMARY:Friday Night Jazz: The Jazz Defenders
DESCRIPTION:The Red Hot Jazz Club presents\nThe Jazz Defenders\n  \nA night of original modern Soul Jazz\, channelling the spirit of the golden Blue Note era of Jazz. \nPlus a delicious dinner from The Old Tannery! \n  \nLed by one of the UK’s most formidable Jazz pianists\, George Cooper\, The Jazz Defenders are a group born from a deep love of Blue Note Jazz\, drawing on a wealth of inspiration to craft their own raw and vibrant compositions. \nThe hard bop recordings of Horace Silver\, Hank Mobley\, Lee Morgan and Art Blakey were highly regarded for a reason – catchy horn lines and incredible musicianship combined with Rudy Van Gelder’s engineering skills mean they will forever be regarded as classics of the genre. The Jazz Defenders are a group that ‘defend’ the legacy of those recordings whilst creating its own original identity and distinction. The music they produce together is a modern soul jazz slant on this classic Hard Bop\, effortlessly channeling the spirit of the golden Blue Note era of Jazz. \nThe group’s brainchild\, pianist and composer George Cooper\, has at a young age already amassed a comprehensive repertoire of musical credits including Hans Zimmer\, Nigel Kennedy\, U2\, Omar\, Slum Village\, MF Doom\, Brand New Heavies\, The Haggis Horns\, Abstract Orchestra and Lack of Afro. \n  \nFeaturing: \nGeorge Cooper – Piano \nWill Harris – Bass \nIan Matthews – Drums \nNick Malcolm – Trumpet \nNicholas Dover – Tenor Sax \nwww.thejazzdefenders.bandcamp.com \nwww.facebook.com/thejazzdefenders \n  \nFriday 3rd December \nDoors: 7.30pm \nStart: 8pm \n  \nTickets \nEntry: £10 advance (£12 on the door) \nVegetable Lasagne*: £8.50 (advance booking only) \nBeef Lasagne*: £8.50 (advance booking only) \n*For special dietary requirements\, please contact The Old Tannery restaurant on theoldtanneryglastonbury@outlook.com or 01458 440558. \nPlease note food options are subject to change. \n  \nFor more information about this event\, please contact theredhotjazzclub@gmail.com \n  \n18’s and over only \nPlease note\, tickets are non-refundable (unless the event is cancelled)
