SUMMARY:Film Screening: 'Make It A Fair COP\, Glasgow' + Q&A
DESCRIPTION:One Minute To Midnight Movies presents\n‘Make It A Fair COP\, Glasgow’\n  \nFilm screening\, followed by Q&A with producers John Potter and Phil Shepherd \nA view from the streets at the COP 26 climate conference\, to which Jeff Bezos was invited but not Greta Thunberg. \n  \n“The two of us took the train to Glasgow to find out more about what might be being done to avoid a complete climate and environmental catastrophe. We didn’t have passes or any kind of access to the main conference\, but we wanted to find out what people were thinking and saying… While world leaders gathered behind the miles of perimeter fences\, we walked the streets looking for other more inclusive conferences. The conferences of the communities and peoples. Going to lots of different meetings in different venues all over Glasgow\, we found that lots of the events were organised by younger people. People with real knowledge of the situation; scientists\, economists\, biologists\, all sorts of people with real expertise. It gave us hope that the changes we need are possible.” \n  \nThis 33 minute film tells the story of COP 26 from the viewpoint of two non-experts without official passes\, who went to Glasgow to the main conference to bear witness to what should have been a crucial global event. \nProducers John Potter and Phil Shepherd showcase the film\, together with another new environmental crisis related short film\, before discussing the implications of these stories with audience members during a live Q&A. \n  \nFriday 22nd April \n7.30pm\, Doors \n8pm\, Screening \n  \nTickets \n£8 advance \n£5 concession (seniors/unwaged) \n£10 on the door \n  \nPlease note\, tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled

SUMMARY:Friday Night Blues: ZZ Birmingham Band
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night Blues\nZZ Birmingham Band\n  \nWhat ZZ Birmingham doesn’t know about the blues wouldn’t fill a postcard home from Birmingham\, Alabama. Check out his long running Blues Cruise radio show on Glastonbury FM. You will be very well informed\, yes\, but also delightfully entertained. A superb showman and story-teller\, these are the hallmarks of his stage show\, too. \nThe core band is five-piece: sax\, fiddle\, drums and bass\, with ZZ fronting on guitar/vocals and occasional harmonica. On live gigs he has the habit of adding trumpet and cello to create horn and string sections. \nRefreshingly absent are lead guitar solos\, overdone to the point of cliche in too many line ups. When the band is in full cry\, ZZ looks to his horns and strings for the fills and thrills. He then subverts expectation by resting them to deliver a stripped down master-class on Hoochie Coochie Man. \nThis is a deserving fixture of the band’s core set\, as is the rousing and anthemic Boots\, ZZ’s own composition – although he credits Bob Dylan among others as having a hand in its creation. Expect other originals as well as first rate covers. \nLadies and gentlemen\, put on your Hi Heel Sneakers and dance the blues with the ZZ Birmingham Band… blues and beyond! \n  \nFriday 29th April \n8pm – late \n  \nTickets \n£7.50 advance (£8 on the door) \nRoasted Cauliflower with BBQ Borlotti Bean Ragout*: £8.50 (advance booking only) \nSlow Roasted Goat Shoulder with BBQ Borlotti Bean Ragout*: £8.50 (advance booking only) \n*For special dietary requirements\, please contact The Old Tannery restaurant on theoldtanneryglastonbury@outlook.com or 01458 440558. \nPlease note food options are subject to change. \n  \nFor more information about this event\, please contact milton.bluesman@hotmail.com \n  \n18’s and over only \nPlease note\, tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled
