SUMMARY:Campfire Conversations with Campfire Convention
DESCRIPTION:Campfire Conversations\nWith Campfire Convention\n  \nShape and build a new kind of social network. Explore\, Connect\, Create\, Organise. Share ideas\, inspirations and goals. Make things happen. \n  \nSunday 19th May \n2.00pm – 4.00pm \n  \nMuch is changing – and fast. While politics is in chaos\, far-right forces on the march and many people disheartened\, others are creating new models\, building new systems and starting to make the conscious revolution a reality.  Who would have imagined a month ago that parliament would have declared a climate emergency? \n  \nCampfire Convention is a new social network developing a radical model – to pay its members for their engagement and creativity via its Karma scheme. Founder and Firestarter Pete Lawrence leads a discussion about hope and practical solutions – one of which is is to invite local residents to set up a Beacon for social change.  How can Campfire help join the dots? \n  \nA chance to meet others and talk about the issues\, challenges and positive moments we are all experiencing today.

SUMMARY:Plant Medicine Series - Iboga Nights
DESCRIPTION:Plant Medicine Cinema Series\nCan entheogens heal where pharmaceuticals have failed?\n  \nThursday 30th May \nIboga Nights \n  \nRunning time: 98 mins \nSynopsis: David Graham Scot’s 2004 film DETOX OR DIE documented how with a single dose of iboga he quit his drug addiction\, inspiring others to go down the same route. The psychedelic plant root hails from Africa where it has been used in religious ceremonies through countless generations. A burgeoning movement in the west has promoted iboga as a quick fix route to painless withdrawal. Now David wants to find out how truly effective iboga is. In a Dutch suburb several addicts embark on the long night of psychedelic detox under the watchful eye of an experienced Iboga practitioner. One client collapses and ends up on life-support\, the provider is jailed and David starts to question the safety of iboga treatment. The film culminates with a nerve-wracking iboga session in London where the director himself administers the treatment. How does the filmmaker weigh up the ethics of involving himself so deeply in this controversial detox option and what will be his final resolve on the efficacy of it? \nTickets: £7.50 \nDoors: open at 7.30pm\, screening starts at 8.00pm \n  \nAn augmented cinema experience \nA series of six film screenings exploring the use of plant medicines and entheogens in medicine as alternatives to pharmaceutical treatments. \nAs the cost of healthcare and pharmaceutical medicine increases\, many are looking to alternatives for healing. In the face of a mental health crisis\, how can entheogens assist with healing the scars that can’t be seen? \nOur aim is to educate\, to show the benefits and dangers inherent in using entheogens for medical treatment.
